Privacy & policies.
How we collect, use, and protect your information — and the terms that apply when you use Irelley to ship anything, anywhere.
Last updated: 17 June 202601 Privacy Policy
Irelley Logistics Ltd (“Irelley”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1.1 Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- You provide it directly — when you request a quote, contact us, or book a shipment. Includes your name, company, email, phone number, shipping addresses, and details of the goods being shipped.
- Shipment-related data — sender and receiver names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses for delivery and tracking purposes.
- Automatically collected — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and how you interact with our website (via cookies and analytics).
- From third parties — carrier partners may share delivery updates or address verification data with us to process shipments.
1.2 How we use your information
- To provide quotes and process shipments you request
- To communicate with you about your shipments, including tracking updates
- To pass necessary information to carrier partners and customs authorities
- To comply with legal, regulatory, and customs obligations
- To improve our services and website performance
- To send marketing communications (only with your consent, and you can opt out anytime)
1.3 Who we share your information with
We share your data only when necessary to deliver the service you’ve requested or to comply with the law. This includes:
- Carrier partners — DHL, FedEx, UPS, Maersk, and others — for the purpose of executing your shipment
- Customs authorities — when shipping internationally, declarations include sender/receiver details
- Service providers — IT, hosting, payment processing, and analytics providers under strict confidentiality
- Legal and regulatory authorities — when required by law (e.g. fraud prevention, court orders)
We never sell your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
1.4 International data transfers
Because international shipping requires transferring data across borders, your information may be processed outside the UK or EEA. Where this happens, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions to protect your data.
1.5 How long we keep your data
- Quote and contact enquiries — 24 months from your last contact
- Active customer records — for the duration of the relationship, plus 6 years after (UK tax and customs requirements)
- Shipment records — 6 years (regulatory and audit requirements)
- Marketing consent records — until you withdraw consent
1.6 Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data (where legally possible)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability (receive your data in a structured format)
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk)
1.7 Data security
We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for data in transit, access controls, and regular security audits to protect your information. No method is 100% secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data.
02 Cookie Policy
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use them to make the site work and to understand how visitors use it.
2.1 Types of cookies we use
- Essential — required for the website to function (e.g. remembering tracking number searches, form submissions). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Google Analytics and similar tools help us understand which pages are popular and where visitors come from. All data is aggregated and anonymous.
- Functional — remember your preferences (e.g. language, recently viewed services).
- Marketing — used only with your consent, to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns.
2.2 Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete them. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect site functionality. You can also opt out of analytics tracking via the Google Analytics opt-out tool.
